With May comes sunshine, beautiful weather, and enjoying the great outdoors. It’s one of the best times of the year, and Bucks County offers plenty of outdoor events. There is no better way to stay active in the community you live in than by partaking in activities and attending events. Bucks County residents have plenty to look forward to in May. Here are some of the upcoming events you should put on your calendar to attend if you have a chance.

Tyler State Park’s 1st Annual Bucks 5K or 10K Run. Newtown’s Tyler State Park is hosting their first 5K and 10K race on May 9, 2015. Take part in the event and benefit the Tyanna Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness. Registration fees are $35, and the race starts at 9 am. Proceeds stay local to the community and benefit Fox Chase Center’s Community Screening Program to offer treatment to women in the Philadelphia area. One lap is a complete 5K and two laps around the park is the 10K. They set a goal to raise $10,000, so let’s come together and help them exceed their expectations.

Amy’s Ride/Walk Against Pancreatic Cancer. In historic Quakertown, PA, help fund pancreatic treatment research by participating in Amy’s Ride/Walk on May 16, 2015. Whether you want to strap on the helmet and ride through Quakertown or walk along a park path, the choice is yours. Walking is three miles, and cycling options include 18 miles and 35 miles. Registration will not exceed $45, and there are raffles and prize giveaways at the end of the event.

Health and Wellness Expo. As the weather gets warmer, we’re trying to shed the pounds we gained through the brutal winter and get back in shape. Open to the public, you’ll find a great expo at the Villa d’Braccia in Chalfont, PA. Beginning at 11 am, receive free information on health and wellness, exercise tips, and speak with expert clinicians from Doylestown Health to maintain a healthy life.
